Their Guardian Angel Deserves a Raise!
Like most grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. D. enjoyed caring for their three grandchildren. But on April 10, 2009, a powerful tornado twisted its way ever closer toward their home in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. When the TV weatherman admonished everyone to seek cover, they dove into the downstairs master bedroom closet with their three grandchildren, two large dogs, and a cat! They bowed their heads and prayed for God to protect them. Soon, however, the dreaded "freight train" ripped through with an eardrum-shattering volume. Terrified, the children clung to their grandparents. When everything quieted down, Mr. D. crept out of the closet to discover a horrifying but miraculous site. Their entire house was completely destroyed. Demolished. Five massive old oak trees in the yard were uprooted. The kitchen, den, and living room? History. In fact, the ONLY room NOT destroyed was the master bedroom closet! On the bedroom wall adjacent to the closet hung decorative plates with not a single plate fallen or shattered. The other three bedroom walls were rubble. We Christians would call this divine intervention and thank God for his protection. Agnostics would dismiss it as a lucky coincidence. Me? I say their guardian angel deserves a raise!
Psalms 34:7 The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and he will protect them. (NIV)
