Hi!

I started life on a small dairy farm near the Canadian border in Derby, Vermont. After Montpelier High School, I graduated summa cum laude from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth and completed medical school at the University of Vermont. After meeting the love of my life, Nathan, we married and moved to Nashville so I could complete residency and he could pursue his music career in Christian music. In 1989, I opened a private practice in internal medicine, and I have been doctoring ever since!

I am the proud mother of two: Eliza, a veterinarian who completed a recent Ph.D in wildlife, and is starting a residency in zoo medicine in Chicago starting July of 2024. Steven, an industrial engineer in Denver loves skiing and hiking in the Rocky Mountains. My husband, Nathan, is a church organist and member of a Beatles tribute band called “The WannaBeatles.” The band has even been nominated for a Grammy award!

I first dabbled my fingers in writing by publishing a story in Chicken Soup for the Soul. This was followed by six other stories in their anthologies. I then compiled a collection of humorous and inspiring patient stories in a book called, Patients I Will Never Forget.

After two years of extensive reading and research, I collaborated with Sue Pace Bell to write a guidebook for those taking care of loved ones with dementia. The Alzheimer’s Disease Caregiver’s Handbook: What to Remember When They Forget is now available from Amazon.

I published my first novel, a clean Christian romantic comedy entitled, Can You Lose the Unibrow? The book features a frumpy female physician and her nerdy accountability partner in their hilarious quest to find love online. Can You Lose the Unibrow? is the first in a 5-book series featuring female physicians as the protagonist. The second book, More Than a Hunch, is a romantic suspense that pits an oncologist against a prosecuting attorney who wants to sue her for malpractice when the attorney’s mother nearly dies after a cycle of chemotherapy that contained a deadly contaminant. The third book, Hearts Heal in Haiti, features two surgical residents attempting to practice in a remote medical clinic in Haiti.

I am an active member of the Middle Tennessee American Christian Fiction Writers group and have attended many writer conferences to perfect my writing skills.

I love to do public speaking for church groups and conventions about caregiving Alzheimer’s, healthy aging, or what it is like to be a primary care internist.
